🍂 Retro Texas Fall Guide to DFW
Fall is officially here, y’all—and I made you a guide.
Okay, maybe North Texas hasn't quite gotten the memo about the fall weather part yet. 😂 But September means we're getting dangerously close to my favorite time of year, and there is SO much happening around DFW this fall.
So I put together my 2026 Retro Texas Fall Guide to DFW—a little collection of places to go, things to see, stuff to eat, and adventures worth getting in the car for.
And, naturally, I couldn't just make a list of pumpkin patches. Where's the fun in that?

Fall in DFW
I've rounded up some of my favorite places to get outside this fall, including scenic spots like Cedar Ridge Preserve, Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center, Trinity River Audubon Center, and Cedar Hill State Park. There are also seasonal favorites like the State Fair of Texas, Autumn at the Arboretum, Fright Fest, and more!
The Fall Bucket List
This might be my favorite part. ✅
Eat something ridiculous at the State Fair. Find a vintage record and grab a coffee. See The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Inwood Theater. Go architecture exploring. Hunt for vintage Halloween decorations. Take a train ride. Go on a ghost tour. Maybe even attend—or enter—a pin-up contest.
You know... normal fall activities. 😂
Events + Very Cool Stuff
I've also pulled together some of the events I'm personally excited about this fall—from rockabilly and live music to swing dancing, comedy, burlesque, classic cars, vintage markets, Pyrex, paper collectibles, and architecture tours.
Basically, if it involves old stuff, cool buildings, classic cars, or something a little weird, there's a pretty good chance it’s in this guide.
Local Spots
And then there are the places worth knowing about year-round: coffee shops, restaurants, cocktail bars, tiki lounges, soda fountains, ice cream shops, bakeries, and even an old-school donut stop in Oak Cliff.

That's really what this guide is about.
Go somewhere. Try something new. Find an old building you've never noticed. Eat something ridiculous. Buy something vintage you absolutely do not need. Take the scenic route.
