From Starter Home to Dream Pad: My Retro Road to DFW Real Estate
Welcome to Retro Texas Tash — I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m Tash Bergman, a Realtor serving the South DFW suburbs with a serious soft spot for homes with soul. Think: breezeblock, pink tile, sunken living rooms, and original hardwoods that tell a story.
My mission? Helping everyday people build their legacy through real estate — especially those drawn to charm, character, and a little mid-century magic.
But like a lot of first-time buyers, I didn’t start with my dream home.
Our First Home Wasn’t Perfect — But It Was a Start
Back in 2016, my husband and I bought our very first house in Phoenix, Arizona. We were young, navigating a competitive market, and had no clue what we were doing (bless our agent, my mother-in-law!).
The house? It wasn’t ideal — not in our favorite location, and not really “us.” But it was what we could afford and it got us in the game.
And you know what? That home was the first domino.
We fixed it up, made it ours, and eventually sold it for a profit that helped fund the next step in our journey.
That “less-than-perfect” house gave us options. It helped us build equity and confidence. It made us realize that real estate isn’t just about finding the perfect home — it’s about creating one.
How I Fell in Love with DFW (and Retro/Mid-Century Everything)
A few years and a new state later, we landed in Texas. (It was my husbands dream to move to Dallas as a kid, and we were finally able to!) We found a 1940s minimal traditional gem about 20 minutes outside of Dallas — original built-ins, wood floors, and vintage bathrooms that made me giddy — I knew we'd found our place.
What started as a personal love for retro design and bold, nostalgic aesthetics quickly became a professional calling. These homes aren’t just beautiful — they’re rare, and they need someone who sees their value. That’s where I come in.
Real Estate, but Make It Vintage.
As a Realtor, I blend classic service with a modern edge. You’ll get market-savvy strategy and honest advice, but you’ll also get someone who celebrates the details that make a home feel like home — whether it’s a sputnik chandelier or the original pink tile from 1962.
I work with buyers and sellers all across DFW, but I’m especially passionate about helping buyers and sellers make smart, confident choices that set them up for the future. And if your taste leans toward the vintage or unique? Even better — we’ll get along just fine.
