Our Dallas at Dusk series comes to an end at the Dallas Freedman's Cemetery. The Freedman's Cemetery graveyard for African Americans was established in 1869 on one acre of land but continued to grow for its community. The construction of Central Expressway in the 1930s virtually eliminated the cemetery until work began to reinter and recognize all of the souls who call this place their final resting place. Join Us and Remembering Black Dallas, along with our award-winning storytellers, in a beautiful night of history and storytelling.
