What’s Buzzing Around DFW This May
Howdy!
Somehow it’s already May, which means Dallas has officially entered the season where every weekend has approximately 47 events happening at once and suddenly everyone remembers patios exist again. 🌞
This past month has been full in the best way.
I attended my first Junior Service League of Dallas meeting and I’m genuinely so excited to be part of it. The organization has been serving DFW since the early 1920s, and there’s something really special about becoming part of a tradition with that much history behind it.
I also finally made it to the Hollywood Home Tour this year and it could not have been a prettier day. My sweet husband and Teddy chauffeured me around from house to house while I admired all the architecture and mentally redesigned my own home approximately 14 times. Unfortunately my shoe completely broke two houses before the end of the tour… which feels very on-brand for me somehow.
Right after, we drove to Denton to pick up one of my favorite vintage finds ever — an Illinois Moulding Co. shadow box that I’ve been dreaming about styling ever since. Send me your ideas! It’s still empty!
Work-wise, things have been BUSY. Listings, closings, showings, events… a little bit of everything lately. We also hosted Hannah’s second annual Ice Cream Social at Kimmel Park in Midlothian and it was such a fun day. I helped organize the event (as her Director of Ops) and let me tell you — having Mr. Softee serve the ice cream made life infinitely easier than trying to serve it ourselves. It was so nice getting to see familiar faces and meet new ones from around the community.
I also started a brand-new group called the Dallas Pin-Up Club! We’ll be hosting monthly meetups around DFW centered around vintage style, community, fun events, and honestly just giving people an excuse to dress cute and get out of the house. If that sounds like your thing, come find us on Facebook and join in on the fun. 💋
Somewhere in the middle of all of that, I also made my first trip to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, went to a few Rangers games, and continued adding way too many places to my “must try” list around DFW.
If you’re new here — welcome! This is my little corner of the internet where vintage vibes, cool houses, local finds, architecture, design, and real estate all collide.
I’m a Realtor®, Historic House Specialist, and Director of Operations for Hannah Conway, Realtor®, helping people buy, sell, and relocate all across DFW — especially fellow lovers of homes with character. 💗
I’m so glad you’re here.

Fort Worth Botanic Garden | Fort Worth
I finally made my first visit this month and immediately understood the hype. It somehow feels peaceful and dramatic at the same time — like every corner was designed for a movie scene or a picnic with a paperback book.
Perfect for: Slow weekends, cute photo ops, and wandering around pretending you’re in a Nancy Meyers movie.
Tarantula Tiki Lounge | Fort Worth
Dark lighting, bamboo, strong drinks, and full tropical escapism energy. If you’ve never been to a tiki bar before, this is your sign. It feels like stepping into another world for a couple hours — which honestly might be why I love places like this so much. With Dallas Tiki Week this month, this is the perfect spot to celebrate.
Perfect for: Date nights, dressing up for no reason, and ordering a drink that arrives on fire.
Casa Café | Lancaster
Casa Café has been doing such a good job creating community lately. They’ve hosted everything from salsa-making classes to a vintage typewriter event, and I love seeing creative spaces like this popping up in Southern Dallas County.
Perfect for: Date night, trying something different, and meeting creative local people.
Lee Harvey’s Dive-In | Dallas
Part pool club, part dive bar, part summer fever dream. It has exactly the kind of chaotic summer energy I love. We’re actually hosting the very first Dallas Pin-Up Club meetup there this summer and honestly couldn’t have picked a more fitting spot.
Perfect for: Pool days, frozen drinks, and pretending it’s 1967.
Now Open* Halperin Park | Dallas
One of Dallas’ newest downtown green spaces just officially opened, and it honestly feels like the kind of project the city has needed more of. Halperin Park transformed a former parking lot into a huge public gathering space with lawns, shaded seating, walking paths, food kiosks, and room for concerts, markets, and events right in the middle of downtown.
Perfect for: Exploring downtown Dallas, people watching, and pretending you live in a city that’s slightly less car dependent for an afternoon.
Now Open* BJ’s Wholesale Club | Waxahachie
Okay… did y’all SEE the gas lines when BJ’s opened? I drove by and immediately kept driving. 😂 But honestly, it’s been wild watching how quickly Waxahachie keeps growing lately between all the new retail, restaurants, and development popping up.
Perfect for: Bulk shopping, cheap gas if you have patience, and people watching from the parking lot.

Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival | Richardson | May 15–17
Live music, local art, food vendors, and outdoor festival energy without feeling overwhelming. One of those easy “let’s just go wander around” kind of weekends. Get Bad to the Bone with George Thorogood & The Destroyers!
Perfect for: Live music lovers and casual weekend plans with friends.
Main Street Fest | Grapevine | May 15–17
Craft brews, live music, vendors, and all the walkable small-town charm Grapevine does so well. Definitely feels like the kind of event where you accidentally stay way longer than planned.
Perfect for: Day trips, patio weather, and browsing your way through downtown.
Scarborough Renaissance Festival | Waxahachie | Weekends through May 25
One of the weirdest and most wonderful traditions in North Texas. Giant turkey legs, costumes, live performances, and people fully committing to the bit — which honestly makes it even better.
Perfect for: People watching and fully embracing chaos.
Dallas Tiki Week | May 17–24
A full week of tiki drinks, themed events, tropical shirts, live music, and escapism across some of the best cocktail spots in DFW. Honestly one of my favorite weeks of the year. Hope to see you there!
Perfect for: Loud prints, fun nights out, and pretending you’re on vacation for a few hours.

Stats from North Texas Real Estate Information System Trends, Resale, Single Family, Residential April 2026
The DFW market continues to feel a lot more balanced than it did the past few years — which is giving both buyers and sellers a little more breathing room. (Hallelujah!)
Home prices are still holding fairly steady overall, with the average sales price sitting around $487K, up slightly year over year. Homes are taking a bit longer to sell, averaging 54 days on market, which means buyers have a little more time to make decisions and negotiate compared to the peak frenzy days.
Inventory is also sitting at about 4.8 months of supply, down slighly year over year but a more balanced market overall compared to the ultra-competitive seller’s market we saw a few years ago.
Mortgage rates have remained relatively steady as well, hovering around 6.42% for the average 30-year fixed loan. Considering everything happening in the world lately — inflation concerns, economic uncertainty, global conflict, and nonstop market headlines — the relative stability in rates has beena surprisingly calm spot in the middle of the chaos.
What does all of this actually mean?
For buyers:
There are more options, a little less pressure, and more room for negotiation than we’ve seen in awhile.
For sellers:
Homes are still selling, but pricing, presentation, and strategy matter more than ever.
And as always, real estate is incredibly local. Things can look very different from neighborhood to neighborhood, city to city, and even price point to price point — but this is the overall snapshot of the DFW market right now.

Paper Leave, Waxahachie
Paper Leaves Bookstore & Plant Shop | Waxahachie
Still one of my favorite hidden gems around DFW. Tucked inside a historic home downtown, it’s part bookstore, part plant shop, and part “I accidentally spent two hours here.” Cozy corners, curated books, plants everywhere… exactly my kind of place.
Perfect for: Quiet afternoons, coffee dates, and finding something you absolutely did not plan on buying.
